The mantle, the tree, the nutcrackers on the shelf — it's a real room, staged and struck by hand for a few precious weeks each year. The only thing added after is a little sparkle, never the scene itself. And the man in the chair isn't a seasonal hire: he's the former Savannah Bananas Umpire Santa, and the Santa at Riverbanks Zoo — which is to say, the kids already know him before they ever sit down.
